The Shelley A. Marshall Short Story Award
for University High School,
Morgantown, West Virginia
On May 19th, at The Garlow House, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Sarah Hoblitzell received the Shelley A. Marshall Creative Writing Award and a check for $250, for her story "Nick of Time." The second and third place stories were:
--Tia Tilla, by Sarah Kelly
--The Importance of Being Ernest Hemingway,
by Jessica Hammack (TIE)
--End of a Beginning, by Heather Murphy (TIE)
Thirty-Three students took part in the short story contest, which included a read-aloud at the Morgantown Public Library's Garlow House on May 19th. Ms. Hoblitzell received her award at the close of the read-aloud. Thanks to Ms. Colleen Murray for administering the contest at University High School.
